Re: VIN Number
Hi guys,
Firstly I went to have a look a this car a while ago, I was the first person to respond to the ad. The guy's (Eddie) (Shailen pls confirm) story was that the original car which belonged to his was in a huge smash in 1987 and everything had to be built into a 3000gt body including original BG suspension. Initially he advertised the car as BG54 but when I looked at it under all the oil\grease it looked like BG540. I asked him about the suspension and he said that they had problems in the nineties servicing a LHD rack and have changed it to the normal 3000GT suspension. If I remember correctly, he said that the tag was thrown away because the papers now carried the 3000Gt body no.
Secondly I own two Capri Peranas
BG0350 and BG0645(second owner) both genuine cars with BG tags, matching motors, original suspension, diff's etc.
My friend owns BG0631 which is a one owner car.
I have compiled a list of all Capris\Cortina\Granadas that I have seen and all the build dates are fine.
I am contemplating buying a Granada Perana (BG0787) which is missing its original motor.
There goes the myth of 500 Capri Perana's!!!!
Shailen, your car could have been an original Basil Green car which has been rebodied. Guys please can I have your comments on whether this is still a PERANA considering that Basil Green originally used a 3000GT and original the REAL goods lie beneath (i.e. engine, greabox, diff, suspension etc.)
Shailen Good luck with your car and you are more than welcome to call me for any advice or questions.

Re: VIN Number
You cant class it as an original perana if it is a rebody, the serial numbers stamped onto the body wont match those on the tags. Its as simple as that.
But being a rebodied car makes it much more valueble than just another v8 conversion. I would love to own a rebody, because I think you can enjoy it just as much, and it is basically identical to the original.
However when you buy or sell the car, you must openly state that it is a rebody because it does have an affect on the value of the car, and you will be comitting fraud if you sell it as an original perana but it is a rebody.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Tiaan. The best you can have is an original replica.

Its a pure metal one. Sorry for the bad picture but thats what you get when you buy a Nokia N95 (5mp my @$$)
Just a small point, that badge looks exactly like the plastic badge on the PERANA louvres that were an accessory item for just about any cars back window..My Escort Sport had one

Shailen,
Why are you only looking for cars in that small 11 number range?
