Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
Another ZA homoglation special.
Simply put a Cortina XR6 with triple twin choke Weber carbs. I am not sure what other mods it had.

Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
Didn't Serge Damseaux and John Gibb race these in Group 1? Maybe even Sarel?
Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
The cars raced by Serge and John Gibb were Sierra XR8s in Group N.
Prior to that in the Cortina days the cars were raced initially by Sarel v.d Merwe and Geoff Mortimer.
These were Cortina 3 litre Interceptors. A limited run of 250 cars were built for homologation purposes. They were fitted with triple Weber carbs, a different cam and different rims. Each car carried its own unique number on the rear roof pillar.
All interceptors were red.
The Xocet was never homologated. It was a dealer developed modification, along the lines of the Interceptor but not using the expensive triple Weber setup. I speak under correction but I think it used a 4 barrel Holley on a special inlet manifold.
This vehicle was developed by one of the Port Elizabeth dealers, probably Pioneer Ford and to my knowledge was only available through them.
Surely the V6 experts on this forum will be able to shed more light on the Xocet.
CAR magazine did a road test on the vehicle which should reveal all.
ZA Perana should be able to find the test in hgis archives.

Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
I also think the XOCET is a 4 barrel conversion with different intake. But I have no idea if it was a ford product or dealer conversion.
