Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
Interceptor was the tripple weber car and the Xocet had the Holley. I remember these cars in the days at Tarlton competing against each other, they were very closely matched.I wish I could find more details on this car, cant remeber any road tests.(named after the Xocet missile)

Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
So, the car Sarel raced was the Interceptor. At the same time that car was raced Serge also raced a Cortina V6, a pale green car. Could that have been the missle, or was it just a straight forward V6?
Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
Off the top of my head(no magazine promise) Xocet was marketed by Simpson Ford in PE, top speed of around 195 km/h and it was rated as much more driveable car then the Interceptor, also had better fuel economy thanks to the Holley...
Saw one not too long ago, good orginal car, beige parked outside a police station, I half expected Andre Stander to come swaggering out...

Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
Can anyone post some pic`s of these racing Cortina's? I liked the one posted already. I have looked for info on these cars over the net but can't seem to find much. any dealer info, race results, road tests would be great to read.

Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
I think it might be the Interceptor. This was the second Cortina Serge drove. He first drove one which was the older model and I'm sure that that one was a normal V6.
Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
Serge replaced Sarel as no 1 driver for Ford. Therefore they never raced Cortinas at the same time.
The Group one Cortina raced by Serge in the picture provided was an Interceptor.
The purpose of developing the Interceptor was to be competetive in Group One racing.
To make a big 4 door Cortina competetive in Group One against Mazda RX 7s , BMW's and V6 Alfas was no easy task. Looking at the picture it would appear that the car is using the now famous illegal Limited Slip Diff's which was never homologated and could not be used. But somehow Bernie Marriner and his guys got away with it.

Re: Cortina xr6 xocet
I agree he took Sarel's place when Sarel went off to Audi but I remember him racing the conventional Cortina V6 before he drove the Interceptor. It was pale green.
