Hi-Fi - I pretty much had the same frame of mind as u. To me there where only 2 escorts the mk1 and the flat front mk2. The RS's nose cone just did'nt look right. But my frame of mind quickly changed when I saw RedRacers RS, and after getting mine I've fallen in love with it and the torque of the Pinto.

ZA - yes it took a while, but I'm active on so many forums I can hardly keep up. These forums are such a wealth of knowledge it's unreal and I spend at least 3hours a night reading / posting on various forums. Leaves little time for my restorations.

I must say the looks of the RS200 have never done much for me. Sorry to any owners out there ;)

The SA RS did have optional extra's for the rally guys like LS diff (LS diffs were only used on the Salisbury diffs) as all other models used the Borg Warner units. Then there was minilites, and a whole range of suspension options once again with the rally oke's in mind and then the Group 1 kit consisting of larger vlaves, cam (WR40) and twin 44 IDF's. There was also a kapoen orange colour listed. As for the Pinto engines there was a time that they suffered with cam follower wear but that sorted itself as the years went by. Other than that they are very reliable and robust. Decent models are very hard to come by these days considering how many were hacked over the years  I have more info if anyone wants, just shout ;)

I remember reading somewhere that the added nosecone on the RS2000 was so efficient that it added an extra 5km/h onto the topend of the car. These are becoming very sought afetr and I know that people like HenryK swear by these Babies, hey Henry?

Not sure what it was like over there but most of the old UK articsls seem to think ford especialy prepped the press cars with optional extras and blueprinted engines ect cos none of the road cars tested came that close to the press cars performance :?:
As stated cam wear was a problem early on in the pintos production but newer casting tecniques and a re-design of the cam spry bar soon sorted that out :)
Sweet looking RS that is mate 8)

Yeah the RS nose was actually Germany's idea, that and the rear boot spoiler also reduced drag by a decent amount. Plus the nose was disigned in such a way that air gets scooped under the nose and through the rad, I've seen so many RS's where people cut slots into the grille and then the nose sags rendering it useless or tatty looking :? And yes they are becoming very rare these days, I've started a collection of spares, panels etc for one day - you never know when you may need it. Also tucked away under all the other rubble at home is a genuine X-Pack kit as supplied by Fibre Sports in the UK.

I know this is an old post, but what do these go for nowdays?
Have found one and it might be for sale if the offer is right...
I know there are many variables, like condition and originality, but all being fair, what’s a good price for me and what’s a good price for a seller?

Very difficult to say because exporters are back trying to seemingly sell anything and everything to the UK.

If the car is good and the number match I would guess R150k+
Alfa GTV 3.0
Ford Capri Perana V8
Chevy Lumina Supercharged

Wait not for tomorrow to do what can be done today, live each day for one knows not what the next day may hold.
