Brake master cylinder

Post by FairmontGT » Thu 20 Sep 2007, 08:42

Hi guys (and girls (magda you are very guiet!)) can you recommend a place to sleeve my brake master cylinder? Mine is pitted quite badly, so even after fiiting a new rubber kit, it still doesnt work. O yes, and the closer to Potchefstroom the better.

Thanks

Tiaan

I got a place in Potch that will send it to joburg to get it done. This means I will probably pay double, but at least there is somebody that will do it.

Usually people just say no we dont do it or we dont stock it here for any old parts.

Hi Tiaan

Hope you enjoyed Germany.

You can get new brake master cylinders from Wingate in Johannesburg. You can find their details in the CAR magazine.

Thanks Magda, I see they can pretty much supply anything related to brakes.

Depending which way more convenient, if you wish to send it down this side let me know I can take it there and send up again. I may even be able to organise it via a friend working on the mainline trains that come right past you. I'll call there and see if they can and have seals etc. They did a good job on Johns which was resleeving fully assembled and ready to fit. So far so good, car stops good.

I dont actually mind paying extra for a place here to send it away and let it be done - they need to make a living too. But sometimes its nearly impossible to find a place even willing to do that. So Im quite pleased that a place in Potch will do things like that, they also helped Druss with his brakes on the monaro.

Hi Tiaan, why re-sleeve if you can put the real thing. Cheers Rassie.

Rassie I didnt think you will be able to buy a new one exactly like the old one easily here in SA. I am all in favour of replacing parts if you can still get identical ones. Next time I will phone Wingate first.
