67 Mustang GTA 390 Fastback Restoration project begins

Post by brennan67 » Thu 30 Oct 2014, 14:48

And so it begins.. This will be my 2nd Mustang restoration project. with the 1st being the 67 coupe I recently completed and sold with the plan being the money from the Sale will go towards the Fastback.

I will use this thread as my journal and update it as much as possible along the way..

I will post progress pictures as much as possible. If anyone cares to add any comments, tips or dont forgets for me along the way, please feel free to jump in.

The idea that I am considering, is to do a factory original restoration as close as possible. There are a few areas I may stray from these objectives mostly due to parts availability and or driveability but ideally I would like the car to resemble the way it came off the production line on 28 Dec 1966. 8)

I am open to suggestions as always so feedback, ideas etc are very much Welcome.

To give you an idea of what the car came with from the factory is the attached Marti Report :
(I removed the VIN # because I am not sure if its wise to have my VIN floating out on the web. who knows)

This is how the car should look once I am done. I am giving myself 1.5 years for this project with ideally it taking a year lets see...

I will take photos soon of what it looks like right now so you can all see what I am working with.
Enjoy the ride this should be fun..

reserved for future use

Guys - dont mind me - I am expecting this build to be a long one and I will in future create some indexes and before and after pics for everyone to find upfront without having to trawl through eveything.
So I am just reserving these spots to do that going forward.. :D

Better post quick, because the edit function expires. I think we only have 24hrs to edit a post?

That Mustang on the last pic looks awesome in green. Good luck with the build.

The admodinators should be able to post the edit on Brennan's behalf.

Do you want to post your progress without posts from others in between? As Simon mentioned, editing ability expires unfortunately.....
