My pa het altyd gese "more balls than brains"
Anyway here is where im at now
Still a way to go but its come a long way, the left rear was quite a piece to make, funny shapes.
I know it doesnt look like a lot of work but all the fill in plates are cut by hand and shaped using a hammer and dollys.
Thanx for everyone that takes the time to read n post .

Re: El camino
Hi all
Sorry for not posting for a long time, been busy with other things that required my attention .
Anyhow im happy to report that i have the power plant for the truck (net hodjies drink uit bakkies uit )
Just some pics of the power plant
As she sits specks are as follow
350 small block Chevy 4 bolt mains
bore 0.060 over
882 heads ( i know they are not the best, but is what I got) max over size valves and some porting done
weiand stealth intake( is not a bad intake from what the website says)
625CFM Carter carb (They are sold as edelbrock nowadays)
Im not really sure what kind of power to expect here but can only be better than the 4.1 that came out
i have managed to fit the plant in the truck, by no means the hardest conversion I have ever done but not just a bolt in job either. Tranny bolted up fine and the 4.1 mounts are spaced exactly where the SBC wants them but the sump hits the carrier so had to cut the old mounts off and weld in some mounts that would hold the 350, some 60 x 6 flat and the CO2 did the job.
Many new parts fitted with the help from the V8 Shoppe as follows
Headbolts
dipstick
timing tab
thermostat housing
waterpump
pulleys
push rod guide plates
T bars for the valve covers
block huggers
breather and PVC valve
Today i managed to get the gear links sorted as they were very bad, sorry no picks yet.
used some golf gear link bushes i had, now i get all the gears ( couldn't get park, 2nd or 1st even drive and revers needed some funny tricks)
Anyway all comments welcome
regards
Leon Wilmans
PS has anybody managed to fit a steering rack in a el-camino need some info if anybody can help?
