Fuel tank rust!

Post by Johann65 » Sat 04 Mar 2017, 14:24

The Opel's tank has rust that is blocking the Filters. I intend to drain the tank. Not a major task! What do I do to remove the rust inside the tank! :?: I am becoming an expert at cleaning petrol filters  I am afraid to take on long distance trips! 8O

Apple vinegar works, throw a few BOLTS in the tank, shake around. (bolts help break out rust)

Thanks for the advice! Will purchase the Apple Vinegar. Will the plain white spirit vinegar work? :?: 5% acidity.
The other option is to use Di-Oxide in addition as a coating

Thanks Gareth. I now recall my 68 Kadett had an upright tank on the one side and I fitted one on the other side with a "T" piece. Was able to drive from Durban tp PE without refueling!
