VW Splitty

Post by Burnthosetyres » Thu 22 Nov 2012, 13:52

I bumped my head again... starting to get like Fox Mad... more junk than runners. Anyway with Christmas around the corner I decided, present time. so I bought another project. She is a 67 Split Window Kombi currently has a 1300 cc running motor and a 1600 cc twin port spare. I was thinking flat 6 or maybe a 2.1 motor from a more modern Kombi. Want to do break upgrade, and Porsche Fuchs rims etc. Any VW experts, please weigh in..... All the windows, badges and trim is there. But she needs work.

Go on ACVWSA forum. All the knowledge and contacts you need.

I am doing work on a '58 Panelvan that is going the Porsche route. Not the best idea economically but I suppose bragging rights count for something.....

Gunter do you still have the crate motor from my Camaro lying around your place, or have you found a car for it yet?

There's something magical to Splitty's.
And so much potential.

Joined the Air Cooled VW site, to get clever. Also gid some Googling, found nice rims, and have a plan or two. Colour wise I'm torn between a medium metallic blue, and white 2 tone, or maybe Black and silver?

All good ideas. I like the cool blue and white! Saw a Splitty some time ago in a magazine, which had a super cool mural of Elmar Fudd (who's always hunting Bugs Bunny), on the front with his gun's nozzles ending as the headlights!
