If you bolt the flexplate onto the engine and then fit the torque converter on its own do you get any clearance between the t/c threads and the flex plate? If so then you either have a spigot bearing in the back of your crank or the t/c snout is too big for the crank. Once that is sorted you can fit the box and see if it goes flush against the block without tightening any bolts. Then you should check your damper. V8 sapphires came with 50 ounce dampers. If that is what youve got then your crank and damper dont match the 28 ounce flex plate. If your engine has a dipstick tube on the side of the block passenger side then its the later block and probably 50 ounce.28 ounce engines had it in the timing cover. Hard to diagnose without seeing the car but that should get you started.

hi Colin the crank has no bearing in it i am shore of that and made 10 times shore when installing box. the 2nd time around no force was used at all. the crank had a small burr or what looked like a tack (weld) where spigot locatesi had cleaned it out with sandpaper and fits nicely. my flexplate goes on quite tight though. the only thing i did not replace is damper but rubbers and all look fine on it. but hey Colin if you want to and if you are in cape town i have beer pop in i will accept any help or knowledge i can get.

:( :(
