Today I removed the left disk and caliper to replace the wheel studs that have been cross threaded. The car is equipped with 250mm solid disk brakes, really crappy brakes for a performance car? Also, the studs do not have metric threads must be imperial?

These two photos is what got me thinking, I've never seen this cutout on the standard Firenza, if you look carefully you will notice a slight curve along the length of the cutout. The cutout has a perfect bend along its length that just cannot be duplicated by hand this was done when the plate was stamped. Also, why would someone make such a cutout if it is not needed as modern radiators are more efficient than the old black ones. I have examined a number of photos of other Can-Am's and the resemblance to this cutout just make me think

I'm sure those were the original Can-Am disks and calipers

I could think of many reasons why a floor pan containing VIN and other number would be cut out and discarded. Perhaps the floor pan had lots of rust.... :D

Nevertheless this is an interesting car. Thanks for posting more pictures.

I may be able to assist with a brake upgrade that I have but am not using. It requires no modification from your side and will work with the standard wheels.

Message or email me if you are interested in going that route.

Thanks for the offer Gavin, can you send me some pics and what $ you looking for?

Yes, there has been some rust on the car you can still see some evidence by the rear tail light cluster. Hopefully it's not been stolen this is also one of the main reasons I'm posting it all over the Internet...somehow I doubt it!
Word of mouth is the car did undergo some repairs but what type of repairs I don't know and why they removed the VIN tag and closed the holes maybe they were going to replace it later who knows. The floor pan was definitely replaced from the front to the reas past the B pillar thus removing the floor tag however the seat rails were rewelded in place. Here is a pic of the passenger floorpan one can clearly see where it has been cut and welded.
