At times I can actually picture the scenes that I remember More than 49 years ago!
So if you Graeme, find one, you will bring a lot of memories back!!

Quite a unique car, I have only ever seen one example. I think the issue with them was the fact they had a cam belt and over time these were not changed with resulted in broken engines.

I remember these the Viva GT cars very clearly.In the RSA it was manufactured with only a four cylinder.

It did not sell that good and I cannot remember seeing one for the past 30 years.

What I have learned however, no one knows what golden oldies are being hiding behind

the garage doors. And sometimes under your nose,

My dad had one and it went very well, recall him saying he could get 90km/h in 1st gear or some thing crazy like that and the power band was from 4000 or 4500RPM then it wa sa very lively car. But sure he said it was a 1900cc. He sadly blew the motor or head gasket and a neighbor who did stock car racing made a deal to swop the motor with a chev 2.5 and do all the work etc. He was quite upset with the loss of power and then sold the car.
I would enjoy buying one and recall playing in it.
Here's a pic of one I saw at the Scotsburgh classic cars show. We called it Kyalami orange. Been considering painting my Ranchero orange with black in memory of his Viva GT, but probably go white and black as he would prefer me to keep it original as possible.

That 1900 could be the same motor my opel manta had. Very eager when you put your foot down. When the motor was overhauled, they had to get new pistons from Germany.

I think this motor fitted to the Viva was a bit different to the Manta motor but am not 100% sure.
