My 69 Camaro
Re: My 69 Camaro
Len, what was the reason for changing? Is the TH350 a better box?

Re: My 69 Camaro
Probably not my finest moment. The 700 R 4 was a bit laboured through the gears, wanted something more responsive, could have just put a shift kit in. But didn't want the down time on the car, thought the rebuilt 350 would be plug and play. In 4 months it's now being rebuilt again. Though I must say the guy doing it now is a wizzard, the money I've spent in it though could have brought a new trany in from the states.....
Next time my ass itches.... I wount act as fast!

The 700R4 has an insanely long 4th gear, awesome for low RPM cruising but...Ranger1 wrote:Len, what was the reason for changing? Is the TH350 a better box?

Done 150 Km's max, clutches burnt, metal flakes in oil, 4 mm play in clutch..... after Transaxle tried to rip me R11k
Also sent torque converter to Jhb to rebuild...... And whilst she's in the ramp, we've notices some bubbles coming through, bottom of doors and sill. Took Panelshop owner there today, no stress, he'll fix it no charge!

Giving her some love again, fitted new 63 mm a Stainless exhaust, sorted out a few niggles and not just a few touch ups, doing a matrick dance next month, as Ters skip passed me the Gilbert, but she is easy on the eye....

Re: My 69 Camaro
Shift kit is nice but not always the answer , i changed to a 2000 stall B&M converter and that's the answer ... Together with a shift kit it's two different cars .... Plus the extra clutches etc
