Who has right of way?!?
Greetings gents!
I've been trying to figure this out and even browsed through a K53 book to no avail.
1) Car A and B arrive at the intersection simultaneously. Car A wants to turn right, car B wants to go straight.
2) Neither A nor B can proceed because car D is approaching from the left.
3) While A and B are waiting, car C stops behind car B. Car C also wants to go straight.
4) Car D passes, Car B crosses over. As soon as car B has passed, car A starts turning right.
5) At the same time car C puts foot and there is nearly a collision and honking.
(and someone nearly got bliksemed, but that's another story )
Who has right of way, car A or C?

As I see it car A has right of way before car C. You are suppose to stop behind the white line before proceding into the intersection. Car C has to stop again behind white line before moving off.

Re: Who has right of way?!?
A definitely
Re: Who has right of way?!?
Its a stop street so C has to stop at the solid line before proceeding, therefore A will have right of way before C

Re: Who has right of way?!?
Well, pretty much as it happened in the story. I wanted to turn right, some poppie and her snotkop boyfriend riding shotgun nearly took me out. They threw a vloermoer of note, middle fingers and whatnot. Anyway I was on my way to buy LEGO so I figured fok jou en jou hele familie and just maar carried on. I am also gratified that their car passes roadworthy muster in terms of a working hooter.raceface wrote:oK, GO ON TELL US THE STORY.
My understanding has always been, at a two or more way stop the person who stopped first has right of way, unless they stopped simultaneously and the one car wants to go straight, as with car B. Snotkop and co obviously thought that if you go straight you always have right of way, but that would make no sense if you think about it for just a second. If there had been a kilometer's worth of car C's wanting to go straight, would I have had to wait until they all passed? Of course not, that's how yielding at stop streets works.
Anyway, I had been worried that I might have been wrong.
Unless of course it was a BMW, they always have right of way apparently. And taxis yes!
