1971 Mustang

Post by 68vette » Sun 26 Jun 2016, 10:28

UPDATE:
So our 68 vette has changed to a 71 mustang... I now feel a bit awkward about my username
But this should be the one we go all the way with!

Details -
It was originally medium yellow gold but I don't fancy that so I think it'll end up a blue with matte black (If possible) suggestions?? And we're looking at a pure black interior...
It has its original 351ci that has been stroked to 383ci. It's been completly stripped and it getting prepped for paint - which includes closing up the after market sunroof that was added
Oh the irony...

From a Chevy to a Ford...I feel some jokes coming... Why did you go to the "dark side"?

What did you do with the corvette, is it for sale?

Original colour is always the way to go in my opinion, an with the black hood and striping it actually look quite good
If you have matching number engine and body it only fair to go matching colour too.
However on the photo you shared the paint job (white) does still look good?

I'm not really phased about chevy or ford... I have a love for these cars regardless ;)

The corvette when back to the guy we bought it from and I think he's now restoring it himself!

Yea it's always been a battle for me between original and a restomod type thing :?: ... but I figure because the engine has been stroked and there are some other things that aren't original we may as well do something different! That's also why I'm avoiding white - for me it's a bit too plain! 8O

You've already got nice wheels and a strong motor with nice heads so just a spray and it's a cool car ...

Visited the paint shop today... unfortunately no progress... Been told work will start on Monday, and should be near finished by mid month! We picked up some colour samples - very difficult decision! :|

Other than that we have a quote for interior, gonna try visit the guy sometime this weekend to check out quality of work before giving the go ahead!

Paint shop can do a 'saturn' black... This is the inspiration... should look similar when done, just in blue
