MkII Cortina Perana V6 racer
Re: MkII Cortina Perana V6 racer
Bmwmaniac,
The problem is to find the 6 cylinder chopper or trigger wheel. We are not sure what car that is from.

Indy, that Cortina belongs to Paul Church. It is one of the existing Fine Car racers and just dressed up with the logo's and decals for the day for oom Koos' tribute. It is actually a 1600 4-cylinder.IndianaJones wrote: Saturday, Passion for Speed. Thought it was your car, 'till I realized it's a 2 door.

Alan has not sold the Perana. Cheers.KSF wrote:Not that I know of? Did you see another one somewhere? I know Arnold Lambert recently bought the Poulter Gunston car, so it should be down here in the Cape somewhere now.IndianaJones wrote:Is there now two Swanepoel Cortina Mk2 tribute cars?

Lambert has bought a Cortina 4-door which he is apparently going to build a Gunston Perana lookalike. Poulter still has his car.

I stand corrected on the Gunston car, thanks. And I should have known better than to believe everything I read on line.....
Now KR, go and answer my last mail and say YES.

Re: MkII Cortina Perana V6 racer
KR has it right. I got the car running earlier this year, around March/April I think. I then had a very stubborn issue with a spongy brake pedal that drove me up the wall, but it got fixed eventually. It ran well enough, I had high hopes for good lap times.
.....and then I sold it. Part of a larger wheel and deal between me and my main trading partner. If all goes to plan, he should debut the car at the Ford&Friends racing on 7 October this year. It no longer has my old engine in, but rather a "new" one I put together from our collective leftovers. It actually runs very well, especially considering what went into it. He is not running it with Fines though, but rather Classics Pre-90, so it can now also get more modifications if he wants to.
