Ford Cortina XR6 mods.

Post by Nivaal » Sun 29 Sep 2019, 18:09

Hi guys. I hope somebody can help me. I have an 82 Cortina XR6 that I'm currently restoring, actually my dads car. I want to gauge around and see what easy but effective engine mods can be done. Im thinking a cam ( what's the best size?) nice exhaust and for air intake I'm considering getting a set of trips. Or would going the Holley 4 barrel route be better? Should I do anything to the heads also? Keep in mind I want to keep her elegant as it's my dads car :D

Welcome.

I would not do the triple Weber carbs...very expensive.

I'd try find a Meissner grind cam or a Richie Jute cam.
Alfa GTV 3.0
Ford Capri Perana V8
Chevy Lumina Supercharged

Wait not for tomorrow to do what can be done today, live each day for one knows not what the next day may hold.

Thanks! Where can I find these cams? And what other mods would you recommend? How about twin 38's ? What work can I do to the cylinder heads?

ZA Perana, are these still in circulation somewhere? Meissner? My dad had a big 6 2.5 in the 80's with the Meissner conversion and back then it was a machine.
