Re: John's Quiz 1 of 2011
This is a tough one John but I'm going to take a guess.
Is it at the old Brooklands museum and the signifcance is it is painted Brooklands Green?
PS of course it's Brittish, it has a drip tray underneath.

Not Brooklands Museum.
It is British Racing Green. That is not the significant thing. The significant thing is about a driver.
It has a very long oil drip tray bcause it has a chain drive transmission which drips all the way to the back axle! And there are four chains, one for each gear.

Re: John's Quiz 1 of 2011
No takers yet, John, so I'm going to have another stab at it. Still guessing I'm afraid.
The car is at Beaulieu Motor Museum.
It was driven by Sterling Moss to the first Le Mans victory for the UK.
This made British racing green famous as a result?
Now I had better stop smoking this stuff!!
Cheers

Re: John's Quiz 1 of 2011
Paul,
You're very, very close, but not exact!
You get a point for Stirling Moss!
Here's the story. This car is a Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica. The 'Replica' is part of its correct factory designation.
Frazer Nash built a number of 'replicas' their successful Le Mans car - hence the name.
This specific car was driven by Stirling Moss to his first international victory.
Location - about 1km from me in the Frazer Nash Archive in Henley-on-Thames. I discovered the archive only very recently, despite having lived here with it under my nose for about 17 years.

Re: John's Quiz 1 of 2011
Well that was a good guess.
When you mentioned a famous racing driver the one that jumped out was Sir Sterling as it was the right era.
Which race was it he won?
Cheers
