2012 Chevy (Holden) Caprice police cars in the USA
I just saw a 2012 Arizona DPS (Highway Patrol) Caprice near where I work. No camera handy, otherwise I would have grabbed a pic.

Interesting that the front doors, etc. are the same as our late Pontiac G8 (RSA Chevy Lumina).Tony69 wrote:was just reading about it a few weeks ago

The Caprice is an Aussie built Holden Statesman ( top of the range for Holden " The flag ship") it has the chev 6.0 litre V8.
Holden export a lot of cars all over the world.
The Pontiac GTO was a Holden Monaro.
The Lumina SS is a Holden.
The list goes on...

Never can the Goat ever be called a Holden. GTO will always be Pontiac. Apart from that I see the boys down under are selling their proper Chevy screamers all over the world and man are they delivering what the USA failed with their smog asphyxiated fuel guzzling engines. Holden rules I guess!! Cheers, Grunty.

Actually: pretty much any car/light truck sold in the world today has emission control. Australia's are comparable to our Federal regs here in the USA. The difference is most places don't have to deal with CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards.......we do. Hence relatively few V8 powered cars anymore---------although the few that are still offered here are screamers.GRUNTY wrote:Never can the Goat ever be called a Holden. GTO will always be Pontiac. In all fairness: the old Chevy based 'Pontiacs' are not 'real' Pontiacs to many people here in the USA.

Grunty yep the new Pontiac GTO was a Holden Monaro exported. But you should see the HSV _ Holden Special Vehicles version its one very nice car.
I don't think it really matters where the cars come from as long as you enjoy them.
My personal opinion is that the USA build the best cars. The Holden Monaro ran a 6.0 Chev actually ALL Holden's V8's are CHEV.
Ford Australia also runs imported components. These days all productions cars are bitza's bits from here & there. Its who ever can supply the part the cheapest that suit the company's needs.
Wiring looms, lights etc etc are all out sourced.
The Monaro in the HSV is called a GTO or the HP version GTS. They were exported to the UK as well as USA.
Now Holden have exported the HSV Clubsport to the UK.
