Hi Killarney racer

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

I will race it in whatever class they will allow me to race (even the Du Noon class) but the idea is to keep it as true to the original cars that raced in the early days as possible. Maybe even try to replicate the Schecter car. Will have to speak to the boss though. Deal is - I fix and race it, he owns it.

Cheers

Damn that's a nice deal. You can't arrange one like that for me? Come and join us in Fine Cars, I think they will allow the 16TS motor as originals are not easy to find. Besides it is a period engine, just not in a Gordini!

Yes, is a nice deal and I realy appreciate it. We have a original Gordini that needs a lot of TLC but at least with the original motor. Will try and restore that one too. I think the racing and standard Gordinis will look nice next to each other.

Hi ren8gor,

I don't think I will make the next race. I realise now rebuilding a car is like building a house - the brick work goes fast but it's the plumbing and tiling that takes some time. Hopefully it will be ready two races from now. I still have to regester the car and do the Historic racing passport.
I THINK the nose piece is a aftermarket racing part supplied by Alconi.

I can't wait to start it.

Thanks for all your help with the rollcage

Just be carefull with the front spoiler.

Classic rules dictate that the outline of the car must remain per original.

So unless you have photographic proof that R8's raced like that pre 1977 you might have to remove it to be compliant with Classic rules.

Rather contact Martin Richards, Techinical guru of the Classic Association up front to avoid disappointment later.

Good luck

Does anyone have Martin's contact details. I would like to clear up this issue before putting any more effort into that nose piece.

Thanks for the number Henry K. I just spoke to Martin and the nose piece should not be a problem in fine cars.

Thanks again
