too funny as I thought I was the only one that thought.... here comes another @sshole when I see a Fortuna in the rear view mirror up your tail and when they pass usually laughing thinking shame they probably still upset they could not afford a real SUV with a V8, so trying to prove there fancy "Bakkie with a built in canopy" can at least go just as fast. LOL but yip not all who drive those cars are like that just surprising how many that do, fit the term.

Today in the rain, some idiot in an A3 indicates an cuts in front of me. I flashed him and then he decides to brake test me. Oh so close. Too stupid to realise that a 16 year old Renault 5 doesn't have ABS....

I hate being ignored, people pretending you do not exist!
I hate people thinking money can buy status/freedom!
I hate pretentious people (Attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed.) !

While I'm here, saw one very, very near-accident today. I was in the right-turn lane (red light). As usual there's a vehicle in the crossing waiting for oncoming traffic so he can turn (in my direction). Now, the arrow had flickered about four times for me to turn when he THOUGHT he could quickly turn. A woman with a Toyota SUV (don't remember which, too shocked) came from the front, full speed, over the red light. If the guy in that bakkie hadn't reacted as quickly as he did, it'd have been a very nasty accident! I will bet anything that the lady in the SUV was talking on her cellphone.
I told my mother just today that I'm starting to get too afraid of driving, people are becoming too reckless! Or is that, careless?

I found something that has made a big difference - every time I get into a car to go somewhere, I make a definite promise to myself to enjoy the drive, even if it is to go and get spares. I make an effort to drive as smoothly as possible, concentrate on my gear-changes and braking, and drive as if I was trying to impress Jackie Stewart. I don't get the hell in with other drivers, just make sure I stay out of their way.
I must tell you that as a youngster, many people wouldn't get into a car with me. I was as nuts as most young motor mechanics were, and had to be in front, no matter what I was driving. Traffic in those days was a lot easier than now though, and of course, there were no Toyota taxis with carte blanche to do as they please. Those days the taxis were Valiants.

Of course. I can still strip my moer when a Fortuner or an Audi with it's stereophonic lights sits on your arse on the N2 when you are doing 140 in the fast lane, but I get out of their way as soon as possible, and just feel sorry for the d#*s. Believe me, it doesn't pay to let it get to you.

I hate that in the new south africa we lost the important things of the old south africa that made us great. Our respect for others and their property. And everything before my post.

Just have to share this.... went to Jhb last Fryday. Came in from Lanseria to the Malibonge crossing. 4 Lanes were in 5 o'clock rushour traffic and BUSY. I was relaxed and chatting to my wife on our way to see the kids. Then of course a taxi had to come and spoil it by trying to force into my lane from the left side out of the yellow line, where he wasn't supposed to stop in the first place. Needless to say I forced him back into the yellow (yes I was in a big 4x4) and upset him and my wife good. He now tried everywhere to chase down the yellow lines and force me out, repeatedly shouting profanity's which upset my wife even further. I started enjoying it because the more he tried the more I locked him between slow moving busses and trucks. He then got a way to go right to the righthand turn lane and tried to squeese the guy infront of me out of his lane to get infront of me. This guy was driving a bakkie with a trailer and a quad bike and he had to climb the sidewalk to avoid an accident. I obviously made sure there was no gap for the taxi to get infront of me.

All this time he was screaming provanities at me and my wife was chewing my ear. I just ignored both of them and kept on driving as if nothing had happened. This taxi then raced down the yellow lane and over the red robot, made a u-turn at a 4 way crossing, but got himself caught in the middel with 4 lanes of traffic refusing him entry into the return road. I now noticed his single passenger screaming and waving a fist at him. He had obviously passed his turnoff and that's when I burst out laughing. For once, a taxi driver was more irate and upset than I was. O, and I also got a nod and a smile from the occupants of the bakkie with the trailer.
